Acronyms and abbreviations
An abbreviation is a shortened form of a word or phrase. For example, "AI Operations" is abbreviated as "AIOps."
An acronym is an abbreviation formed from the initial letters of a phrase. For example, "SRE" is the acronym for "Site Reliability Engineering."
- It's unnecessary to capitalize all initial letters when defining an acronym; capitalize proper nouns and use lowercase for general terms.
- When introducing an acronym or abbreviation, write the complete term followed by the acronym or abbreviation in parentheses.
- Avoid defining acronyms or abbreviations in headings. Instead, use the complete term or the acronym in the heading and introduce the full term and its acronym or abbreviation in the following paragraph.
