Dynatrace trademarks
This page explains the correct usage of Dynatrace trademarks and trademarked terms.
Dynatrace®, Davis® AI, OneAgent®, PurePath®, and Smartscape® are some of our registered trademarks. Grail™, Davis CoPilot™, and OpenPipeline™ are newer trademarks. When we use a term that's a Dynatrace trademark, that term is a "trademarked term."
It's acceptable to refer to a trademarked term without using it as a trademark. This can happen when the same word is used both as a trademark and as the name of a product solution, product capability, or our company name. Most existing usage of the terms "Dynatrace," "OneAgent," "Davis AI," "Smartscape," and "Grail" in Dynatrace content falls into this category of acceptable usage.
To insert a registered trademark symbol:
- Copy the symbol (®) from this page and paste it into your document.
- In MS Word on Windows, select Ctrl+Alt+R.
- For MacOS, select Option+R.
Guidelines for Dynatrace trademarks
The following guidelines must be followed when using a trademarked term as a formal trademark.
- Insert the appropriate registered trademark (®) or trademark (™) symbol in body text the first time you mention the trademarked term in each public-facing announcement, article, blog post, press release, documentation index page, dynatrace.com webpage, product webpage, or other public-facing content. Subsequent mentions of a trademarked term in associated content don't require the ® or ™ symbols.
- For stylistic reasons, don't insert the ® or ™ symbols in:
- Titles, headings, subheadings, or quoted remarks (unless the headings demonstrate the correct use of these symbols, as below).
- Any UI labels (such as buttons, form labels, and navigational links).
- Only use the trademarked term as an adjective that describes a technology or capability, for example, "Dynatrace® platform."
- As a corollary, do not use a trademarked term as a noun, for example, "Dynatrace® provides end-to-end infrastructure observability."
- Consequently, plural noun forms (for example, "Deploy OneAgents® to all your hosts") and possessive noun forms (for example, "Visualize your application environment using Smartscape's® topology view") are inappropriate.
- Do not insert a space between a trademarked term and a trademark symbol.
- When two trademarked terms are combined into a single modifier, insert the trademark symbol after the second term, for example, "Dynatrace OneAgent® services" and "Dynatrace Davis® AI."

Guidelines for third-party trademarks and brands

It's okay to use product names when discussing specific products, but don't use trademarked names as synonyms for entire product categories.

Treat product names consistently. For example, if you link to only one brand name in a list of technology brands, readers might assume that Dynatrace endorses the linked brand over the other brands.
Use of trademarked terms not as trademarks
When a trademarked term is used for any other purpose than as a trademark, it's fine to use the term as a noun, and you don't need to insert a registered trademark symbol.
